Book week bash

By Kimberley Pringle

On Thursday nineteenth of August at Long Bay Primary School, Book characters came to life for the Book week Celebration. From Anakin Skywalker to Pikachu, it was an amazing and extraordinary day.
The hall was the location of the competition for the best outfits in each syndicate. The children waited for their turn to come up. Class by class they went. After each syndicate paraded, the winners were called out.
The Results were:
Atatu: Boy: Gruffalo. Girl: Horse
Akaronga: Boy: The Magic School Bus. Girl: The Queen of Hearts
Akonui: Boy: Pikachu. Girl: Jester.
Matt Pawley had a mishap with his costume!
“When we pulled the outfit out of the box, the pants were already ripped!” Matt confesses. (Let’s just hope that never happens again!)
People were happy to discuss about their brilliant costumes.
“I liked the trident.” Says Sam MacKay about his amazing Percy Jackson outfit.
“I liked the hat, the suit was nice. My mum helped me make a really good suit.” Danté Becker explains about his realistic Luigi of the Mario Bros. costume.Brittany Alison-Carnie liked seeing everyone being dressed up and creative.
Everyone had a great and learnt about books they have never heard of before.
